Reading Glasses FAQs
How do I know if I need reading glasses?
Common signs are holding books or your phone at arm's length to see them clearly, blurry small print, or tired eyes after close-up work. Close-up focus tends to get harder with age, so if you notice these signs, an eye exam can confirm what you need before you choose your strength.
What's the difference between readers and prescription reading glasses?
With Readers, you simply select a magnification strength for close-up reading, with no prescription needed. With Prescription Reading, you add your own prescription — including separate values for each eye — so your reading glasses are customized to your vision. Our How to Buy Glasses Online guide covers the full ordering process.
How do I know what strength of reading glasses to buy?
Our readers start at +0.25 and go up in 0.25 steps, so you can fine-tune your strength. If you're unsure, an eye exam is the most reliable way to find the right power, and you can then order with your own prescription instead of guessing.
Can I get reading glasses if I have astigmatism?
Readers only let you select a magnification strength, so they correct close-up focus alone. If you have astigmatism, choose Prescription Reading and enter the cylinder (CYL) and axis values from your prescription for each eye.
Can I wear reading glasses all day?
Reading glasses are designed for close-up tasks like books, menus, and your phone, and they'll make things further away look blurry — so they're best put on when you need them. If you find yourself taking them on and off throughout the day, bifocal or progressive lenses, which combine distance and reading vision in one pair, may be a better fit.
What styles of reading glasses does Viewner offer?
Our reading glasses collection is designed for both men and women, in cat-eye, oval, round, square, rectangle, polygon, and browline shapes, so you can find a frame that suits your face rather than settling for a basic pair.
Can I try on reading glasses virtually before I order?
Yes — use the Try On button on any frame to preview how it looks on your own photo before you order your readers.
